Monday, March 25, 2013: Fifty Shades Of I Don’t Give a $hit

Let’s pretend for a minute that it actually IS Spring outside. Here’s a reminder on the importance of taking a “Spring Break.”

Dear Babies,

It’s Spring Break this week, and with these arctic-like temperatures it feels like neither Spring, or a”break,” with all of your activities cancelled leaving me as the sole ringmaster/wrestling referee/endless snack distributer/bar mitzvah dancer to Yo Gabba Gabba songs, so let’s discuss:

In high school I remember these weeks off as some fun, sure, but also times of loaded up kickline practices or times to finish (or start) big projects that had been assigned months ago.

In college, while no work was done on these weeks off–that, I can assure you–week-long stints of mass tequila consumption with little sleep, food, dignity and water did not make for a restful “break.” In fact, as I recall, there would be Spring Break, and then the following weeks of {fatigue based or upper respiratory illness here}.
